Despite the widespread ardent conjecture, many of the answers to the case likely went to the grave with the Somerton Man's body. An exhumation of the Somerton Man could unearth some much sought-after answers. The words ‘Here lies the unknown man’ currently ornament the Somerton Man's West Terrace grave. The sands of time will hopefully one day trace out a name on the plaque for the Somerton Man.
Is it possible, in the final
analysis, for one human being to achieve a perfect understanding of
another? We can invest enormous time and energy in serious efforts
to know another person, but in the end, how close can we come to
that person’s essence? We convince ourselves that we know the other
person well, but do we really know anything important about
anyone?
